On February 1st, 2017, I was honored with the opportunity to read my fiction at the Lawrence Arts Center’s annual Langston Hughes Creative Writing Award Celebration. I also had the great pleasure of witnessing the brilliant 2017 Langston Hughes Creative Writing Award Poetry winner, Mercedes Lucero, read her work. At the end of the ceremony, two short films were shown as part of the I, Too Sing America: Langston Hughes Unfurled documentary series. It was a truly unforgettable experience that I am humbled to have participated in. Below, please find an article from the University Daily Kansan covering the ceremony.
